A U F's second social service

A U F has successfully completed its second social service activity, we have been to SRI VIDHYA'S CENTRE FOR THE SPECIAL CHILDREN who believes that:
"Every child has a right to learn, to play, to gain self - respect, and to develop their abilities to the fullest extent possible".

It is often thought that it takes a certain kind of person or an individual with special education to work with people who are retarded. The fact is that anyone who is patient and kind and who has a sincere interest in working with people can be successful. As a person, you can contribute greatly to the happiness and accomplishments of individuals who have mental retardation.

It was really a great place and we would always cherish this, as the children are really special, as soon as we entered they had a smile on their face, though they cannot understand and answer,they knew that we came to see them.People who deal with childern like this needs lot of motivation and patience, iam really happy to see and say that all the people who maintian this are of that kind.One of the person had celebrated his birthday with us, i don't know if he understands what a birthday is, but for him its all about cutting a cake and eating a chocolate.

Close to 6% of indias population have some form of disability, and centres like Sri Vidhya's help meet the needs of this marginalized group. Given the right inputs, a significant number of people with disabilities can become productive participants in society. But to achieve this in an effective and inclusive manner, there is much need of higher levels of commitment, with more financial and other resources....


This is just an example of what 15 people can do to help the society.........
